ADVENTURES JOURNEY
ITINERARY (24 days)
Day 1: Arrive at Ivato International Airport (TNR) in Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital city. Our staff will welcome you, and we'll go to the hotel for overnight.

Day 2: This morning we go to the southern part of the capital until Antsirabe (170 km or 105 miles), a cozy town built by Norwegian missionaries in 1872 through mountains, rice and vegetable fields.
​
Day 3: Today, we leave the highland until we reach the gate of the western part of Madagascar, Miandrivazo (220 km or 136 miles). On the way, we will visit the mysterious and sacred crater lake of Tritriva, located 18 km or 11 miles away from the town.
​
Day 4: We continue our journey through the savannah of the middle west to reach the coast of Madagascar or Mozambique Channel in Morondova (487 km or 303 miles), where gigantic baobab trees welcome you at its entrance. We will enjoy the sunset at the famous "Baobab Avenue" in the late afternoon.
​
Day 5: In the early morning, we head to Bekopaka, our final destination for the day (200km or 124 miles). We will stop at Baobab Avenue for the sunrise. We can take in the surrounding dry, deciduous forest while driving the Madagascar backroads.
Day 6: We'll spend the entire day at Tsingy of Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990. Tsingy is a characterized as a grey, needle-shaped limestone formation and has formed due to erosion over millions of years.

Day 7: Return back the same route we came. We will stop in another wonder of this area because we will stay in a place close to a RAMSAR site, a Wetland of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat. We will drive 106 kilometers (66 miles) today.

Day 8: Enjoy all activities suggested by the lodge we stay such going on a canoe and see the way to do salt, strolling to the baobab of the place or going on birdwatching, doing nocturnal walk in order to see the mouse lemur.
​
Day 9: We continue today until Morondava (94 km or 59 miles), but we will stop half way at Kirindy Reserve to spot lemurs, fossa, birds—all in the wild if we are lucky. We will enjoy once more the sunset at the Baobab Avenue before reaching our hotel.
​
Day 10: Depart Morondava and head to Belo sur Mer (110 km or 68 miles), a place for traditional boat construction by the Vezo tribe.
​
Day 11: Spend the entire day at leisure.
​
Day 12: We'll bid farewell to Belo this morning and make our way to Andavadoaka (300 km or 186 miles). Enjoy the surrounding baobab forest along the way. On our way, we encounter the largest population of Adansonia Grandidieri baobab species—around 500,000 trees!

Day 13: Andavadoaka, a paradise for divers. Coral reefs are nearly unbroken for nearly 250 kilometers (155 miles), it is the second longest coral reef in the world! Spend the day at leisure on your own and sunset in the most spectacular and impressive baobab trees in Madagascar.

Day 14: Time to leave Andavadoaka. Today we head to Ifaty (160 km or 100 miles), the famous beachfront of the southwestern part of the country. Here we can enjoy one more time the sea and its attraction.
​
Day 15: Spend the day at leisure in Ifaty. We will snorkel in a beautiful place off-coast in a traditional outrigger canoe.
​
Day 16: Spend the day at leisure in Ifaty. We will visit a spiny forest held by villagers to see lemurs, birds, endemic plants, ...
​
Day 17: Say goodbye to the coast—today we'll head to the heartland of Madagascar! The scenery will change dramatically as we make our way to the canyon of Isalo (265 km or 165 miles).
​
Day 18: A visit to Isalo National Park. Hike in a few miles and swim in or simply enjoy the beautiful turquoise natural swimming pools.
​
Day 19: Today, we head north to Ambalavao (224 km or 139 miles) where we can be with the playful ring-tailed lemurs all afternoon. Then, we visit a paper manufactory to see the way of making Antemoro paper, a technique brought by Arab immigrants in Madagascar. Here, there is also a "wild silk" manufactory, producing silk endemic to the island.

Day 20: Today, we go to the rainforest, Ranomafana (117 km or 73 miles) in search of lemurs, especially the golden bamboo lemur, newly discovered species in 1986. The greater bamboo lemur, the largest of all bamboo lemurs, can also be found here. Other notable species include the Milne-Edwards' sifaka and black-and-white ruffed lemur. A nocturnal walk in the evening in search for lemurs, chameleons, frogs ... awaits us .

Day 21: Half day visit to Ranomafana National Park. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 22: Depart Ranomafana to join Antsirabe (228 km or 142 miles), passing by the capital of woodcarving in Madagascar called Ambositra which is considered since 2003 to be the "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
Day 23: Circle back to Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo, today (261 km or 162 miles) and and go to the market for some souvenirs.

Day 24: Transfer to Ivato International Airport (TNR) for your return flight home.
​
PLEASE NOTE: Tsingy National Park is ONLY OPEN from MAY until NOVEMBER. So, if the tour is outside this time, we will go to a different place—an alternative that has lemurs—on the east coast.
​
Some travel is on uneven dirt roads.
