On this journey, we will explore the best locations in the rainforests of Madagascar to spot lemurs—both diurnal and nocturnal species. You will see the largest of  all living lemurs, the indri, in their natural habitat. This journey also provides the opportunity to see some very rare chameleons, geckos, frogs, and birds.  

This journey is tailored for those who have a couple more days to spend in Madagascar, an extension of the 3-day Rainforest Lemurs Journey. Along with several species of lemurs in the rainforest (including the indri, the largest of all lemurs) and rare, endemic reptiles, we’ll also have the opportunity to see the elusive aye-aye lemur in their natural habitat.  

This 8-day journey will show you how exceptional and amazing Madagascar is. We’ll take in both sunrise and sunset at the famous Avenue of the Baobabs. We’ll discover the extraordinary Tsingy of Bemaraha, the largest rock forest in the world. Beyond that, we’ll seek out the biggest carnivore in the country, the fossa, along with lemurs and the enchanting endemic plants in the forest of the baobab.  

The Discovery Journey offers a variety of encounters with wildlife and culture, perfect for those who want a more in-depth journey than the shorter Rainforest Lemurs journeys but can't do the longer Adventures Journey. Not only will we spot lemurs in the wild, but we’ll also meet up with Malagasy people from the highlands to the coast to see a variety of traditions, baobab trees, a reptile reserve, natural swimming pools, and more!  

This is the ultimate Madagascar safari.  From playful lemurs to colorful chameleons and mystical baobab trees to spectacular coral reefs—we will see it all! Visit the mesmerizing Tsingy of Bemaraha, spend time with the locals and learn traditional techniques of woodcarving and papermaking, and swim in vibrant turquoise natural pools.
